ROSE Data Server

The offered product is a data server with the pre-installed RouterOS Enterprise system – ROSE. This system is well-known to all MikroTik users, with added features specifically designed for data centers, such as disk monitoring, enhanced formatting, RAID, rsync, iSCSI, NVMe over TCP, and NFS.

The server supports containers, allowing the use of MinIO, Nextcloud, Shinobi, Frigate, and other OCI-compatible containers. Two USB ports enable the connection of additional devices, enhancing the flexibility and capabilities of the entire system.

20x U.2 NVMe

The device features 20 U.2 SSD hard drive bays, with a maximum drive height of 7 mm. Each drive is connected to the processor via 2 PCIe 3.0 lanes, providing 16 Gb/s bandwidth per drive. In total, all drives are connected with 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes, resulting in a processor connection bandwidth of 128 Gb/s. When writing files through NVMe-TCP, the system can achieve data write speeds of up to 50 Gb/s.

The MikroTik RDS supports M.2 adapters, which you can use if you wish to connect M.2 SSD drives.

High-Bandwidth Interfaces & AC Power Supply

The MikroTik server stands out for its use of various high-bandwidth interfaces, making integration with an existing network seamless. The device includes 2 QSFP28 slots with a throughput of up to 100 Gb/s, 4 SFP28 slots with up to 25 Gb/s, 4 SFP+ slots with up to 10 Gb/s, and 2 10G Ethernet ports (1 / 2.5 / 5 / 10 Gb/s).

It is equipped with 2 hot-swap AC power supplies that operate redundantly—if one fails, the other takes over. The server's maximum power consumption is 105 W, while the maximum power consumption for the entire system is 286 W.

High Performance

The offered product is equipped with a 16-core ARM AL73400 processor, clocked at 2000 MHz, and 32 GB of DDR4 RAM. This same processor is used in the top-tier router, the CCR2216, ensuring smooth operation and enabling routing and virtualization capabilities. Thanks to its high performance and the RouterOS system, the RDS is not just a data server—its capabilities extend far beyond that. Additionally, with the integration of the 98DX4310 switch chip, also found in devices like the CRS510-8XS-2XQ and CRS504-4XQ, the device supports Layer 3 offloading.

Applications

The MikroTik RDS2216-2XG-4S+4XS-2XQ can be used in various scenarios, such as cloud storage with MinIO, cloud hosting (NextCloud), or as a backup solution/data storage for databases. Thanks to the server's flexibility, it is suitable for a wide range of applications in different types of networks.
