The TP-Link ER706W is a router designed to work in the Omada system. It features 5 gigabit Ethernet ports and 1 SFP slot, enabling connection via fiber optic cable. Each port can function as a WAN, allowing you to use multiple internet sources to ensure operation in case of the main connection failure. The device stands out with high performance; in NAT routing, it can handle throughput of 945 / 940 Mb/s. Its main advantage is compatibility with various VPN connections - GRE tunnels, WireGuard, IPsec, and OpenVPN. It enables you to connect multiple locations within one network. An additional benefit is the ability to transmit Wi-Fi 6 wireless networks. The router utilizes IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax protocols in the 2.4 GHz band and IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac/ax in the 5 GHz band. The maximum theoretical Wi-Fi throughput is 574 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz band and 2402 Mb/s in the 5 GHz band. Additionally, the router supports Omada Mesh and can wirelessly connect with other compatible access points.
The offered product will excel in locations where you want to create a small network based on Omada access points. It can serve simultaneously as the main router and transmit Wi-Fi wireless network. The additional VPN support will allow you to use the ER706W as a router in a remote location that needs to connect to the main resources at the company headquarters.
Wi-Fi 6 AX3000
The router can transmit a wireless network according to the Wi-Fi 6 standard. It supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax protocols in the 2.4 GHz band and IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac/ax in the 5 GHz band. The maximum theoretical Wi-Fi throughput is 574 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz band and 2402 Mb/s in the 5 GHz band.
This throughput is completely sufficient for most activities undertaken by users. At the same time, it is enough to support multiple clients simultaneously, which is an important advantage in certain locations.
Multi-WAN, 5 gigabit Ethernet ports, 1 SFP slot
The device features 5 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mb/s) and 1 SFP slot. Each port can function as a WAN, allowing up to 6 WAN connections simultaneously. This enables you to connect multiple internet sources. It will allow you to balance the load and protect against failure that may occur with any of the operators.
The SFP slot and 4 Ethernet ports can also operate as LAN ports. An additional advantage is the inclusion of a USB 3.0 port, which supports external 3G/4G modems. This allows for the creation of another backup connection.
Metal casing, detachable antennas
The ER706W is enclosed in a steel casing, which stands out for its good thermal conductivity and quickly dissipates heat to the outside.
At the back, there are three omnidirectional antennas responsible for wireless transmission. Each of them can be unscrewed and replaced with one characterized by higher gain.
Intelligent network optimalization
The offered product, together with traditional Omada access points, can create a single wireless network. It supports the Mesh feature, which allows for wireless communication between access points without the need for Ethernet cables to each one.
The Omada system, through intelligent optimization, automatically selects the best route between individual access points. Additionally, in case of a connection loss between two access points, the system will attempt to find an alternative route to ensure uninterrupted network operation.
VPN connections
The ER706W supports multiple VPN protocols, including GRE tunnel, IPSec / SSL / Wireguard / PPTP / L2TP. This is a very important feature if you are using the router within a larger network consisting of several remote locations. With VPN connectivity, the ER706W can communicate with the main location to create an extensive network.
The device features hardware-accelerated data encryption support, which provides excellent performance and enables high throughput.
DoS protection
The router detects and blocks various types of DoS (Denial of Service) attacks, such as TCP/UDP/ICMP flooding and Ping of Death.VLAN support
You can create virtual networks to divide the network into segments and separate individual segments from each other to increase security.
Firewall
An advanced firewall protects your network and the data transmitted through it.
IP / MAC / URL filtering
Filtering can protect you from viruses and various types of external attacks.
IP-MAC Binding
Static IP reservation for clients helps protect against spoofing and ARP attacks.
One-Click ALG Activation
With a single click, you can activate the ALG (Application Layer Gateway) protocol for FTP, H323, SIP, IPsec, and PPTP protocols.
Omada SDN
The SDN (Software-Defined Networking) platform is used to integrate all compatible devices and provides centralized management from the cloud. You can create a very large network that you will manage from a single point.
The key advantage of Omada SDN is its high scalability. Expanding the network with additional segments or interfaces is straightforward and does not involve significant downtime.
Omada application
You can use the Omada mobile application available for Android/iOS devices for management and configuration. The initial setup consists of a few simple steps, which the application will quickly guide you through. You can manage the ER706W both in standalone mode and controller mode.
