The TP-Link SL1311P is a switch equipped with 8 Fast Ethernet ports (10/100 Mb/s), 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mb/s), and 1 SFP slot (1 Gb/s). All Fast Ethernet ports have PoE+ (802.3 af/at) power output, with a maximum power output per port of 15.4 W using 802.3 af or 30 W using 802.3 at. The total power budget for the entire device is 65 W. The SL1311P does not have management capabilities, but it can operate in three different modes selected by a physical switch. In "Extend" mode, the PoE power supply range is increased to 250 m, but the throughput is limited to 10 Mb/s. In "Isolation" mode, it allows separating traffic generated by clients, and "Recovery" mode enables automatic resetting of connected devices upon detection of power loss or lack of response. The device features passive cooling and a desktop metal housing. You can place the switch on a desk/shelf or mount it on the wall; wall mounts need to be purchased separately.
8 fast Ethernet ports, 2 gigabit Ethernet ports, 1 SFP slot
The switch is equipped with 8 Fast Ethernet ports (10/100 Mb/s), 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mb/s), and 1 SFP slot (1 Gb/s). You can use the higher throughput ports to connect to a main/aggregation switch, router, or device requiring high speed (e.g., server). The total switching throughput is 7.6 Gb/s, with a packet forwarding rate of 5.65 Mp/s.
PoE+ power outputs
All Fast Ethernet ports (1-8) have PoE+ power output. The switch utilizes IEEE 802.3 af/at protocols, with a maximum power output per port of 15.4 W for 802.3 af and 30 W for 802.3 at. The total maximum power budget is 65 W. The SL1311P is best suited for connecting IP cameras in surveillance networks. The offered power budget is sufficient for up to 8 cameras.
Three operating modes
The offered product does not have management capabilities but supports three operational modes, which you can set using a physical switch:
- "Extend" mode - transmission range is extended to 250 m, but throughput is limited to 10 Mb/s.
- "Isolation" mode - allows for isolating client traffic to enhance protection and transmission efficiency.
- "Recovery" mode - in this mode, devices connected to PoE are automatically restarted upon detecting power loss or lack of response.
Plug & play
The SL1311P is a plug-and-play device, requiring no initial configuration. Simply connect the switch to a power source, and it's ready to use. You can then connect other devices to it. The offered product features a desktop housing and is designed to be placed on a shelf/desk. Optionally, you can mount it on the wall; wall mounting screws need to be purchased separately.
