Descrizione

The Huawei S220-24P4X is a managed switch from the eKitEngine series. It is equipped with 24 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps) and 4 SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). All Ethernet ports feature PoE+ power output, with a maximum power per port of 15.4 W for 802.3af or 30 W for 802.3at. The total power budget for the entire device is 400 W, significantly higher than what the S110 series offers. The switch provides high network security, supporting various types of authentication (based on MAC address or 802.1X) and is protected against various external attacks. You can manage the device using the Web UI, CLI, or SNMP. Additionally, it supports cloud management and the Huawei eKit application. The S220-24P4X has a built-in AC power supply, with a maximum power consumption of 485.91 W. It utilizes active cooling with intelligent fan speed adjustment. The device is primarily suited as an access switch in networks composed of multiple APs. It provides a large power budget and high throughput thanks to the SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). In smaller networks, it can effectively serve as the main and only switch, providing basic management in addition to PoE.

24x gigabit Ethernet, 4x SFP+

The switch is equipped with 24 gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps) and 4 SFP+ slots (10 Gbps). It has a switching capacity of 128 Gbps and a packet forwarding rate of 95 Mpps. The SFP+ slots provide high-speed connectivity (up to 10 Gbps), allowing for the connection of multiple network segments or high-performance devices such as servers.

24 PoE+ outputs

All Ethernet ports feature PoE+ power output. The maximum output power per port, according to standards, is 15.4 W for 802.3af or 30 W for 802.3at. The total power budget for the entire device is 400 W, significantly higher than what the S110 series offers. This allows you to power all ports using the 802.3af standard, which is necessary in large networks with many access points.

Using PoE allows you to provide both power and data transmission through a single Ethernet cable. With this type of switch, you only need to run one cable to each access point, eliminating the need for additional power adapters.

Layer 2 management

The device provides numerous Layer 2 management features, such as VLAN support, multicast handling (IGMP Snooping), Quality of Service (QoS) functions, and Access Control Lists (ACLs). It supports Spanning Tree protocols (STP/RSTP/MSTP) as well as the modern ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) standard defined in the ITU-T G.8032 standard.

The switch provides essential network security measures. It protects against DoS attacks such as SYN flood, Land, Smurf, and ICMP flood. It also includes protection against attacks targeting users, such as DHCP server attacks, IP/MAC spoofing, DHCP request flood, and DHCP CHADDR attacks.

Management is conducted through the graphical Web interface, CLI, or using SNMP (v1, v2c, v3) / SSHv2.0. Devices from the S220 series can also be managed in the cloud, and in this case, you can additionally use the Huawei eKit app.

Usage

The S220-24P4X is designed to function as an access switch in networks comprising multiple eKitEngine APs. Access to L2 management allows for controlling operations and monitoring the status of the entire network. With eKitEngine solutions, you can manage everything from a single interface, simplifying system configuration and subsequent maintenance.

Thanks to its large power budget, the S220-24P4X allows you to easily connect 24 access points. The switch is suitable for large networks, such as hotels or schools. On the other hand, with access to management capabilities, it can also function as the sole switch in small and medium-sized networks without the need for a division into core and access switches.
